There are no rare date and mintmark combinations of the Roosevelt Dime, though a number of issues are scarce above MS-66 or with fully struck details. Proof coinage commenced in 1950, and these too are rare only in the highest grades. A collector should have no difficulty assembling a nice set of these dimes in choice to gem condition.
The Roosevelt Dime series is rich in both doubled-die and repunched mintmark varieties. There are also a number of proof coin varieties. Collectors fond of variety coins are drawn to the Roosevelt Dime series, perhaps as eagerly as straight date/mint collectors.
